  • Cam is in, got some questions... (3.4L cam)

Just got done doin the cam swap on the car. I did ported heads/intake, polished TB, comp 1.6 roller tip rockers, Pacesetter headers, AC delete, and Lunati custom grind cam from AMM performance. specs are 228/228, .496/.496 (1.6 rocker), 110 lsa.

    questions:

first off, it hunts for an idle, which i was expecting. Josh, on your car did u just drill a small hole in the throttle plate? did that cure the idle hunting problem?

    Second,
Its running rich as hell, I douled out several plugs tonite. Driving around town it just loads up really bad. So, simple thing, how do you lean the mixture out some? Is it all in the computer? Because i would think the O2 sensors would be goin nuts, and the computer would be tryin to lean it out. Josh, what did you end up doing on your car? is messing with the mixture something you can do by altering fuel pressure?

For people curious about the setup, basically, it kicks some serious *** . The car pulls and pulls, getting to 110 is no trouble at all. I really am quite pleased with the cam, if i can just get it so it is working out a little better for me then Ill be in good shape. I cant wait to get it to the track. Ill be runnign it NA, then on a 65 hp dry shot. :D

i am still having a hell of a time with my car. you have too trick the map sensor into thinkin that it has more vacuum (or more signal) too the ecu so it sends less fuel. btw, i go through plugs in an hour. lmfao
    boost, you got it???

I had to drill the throttle body to keep the idle up and I lowered the fuel pressure some to make it run a little better at idle. Don't lower it too much though or you will lose high RPM power.

see thats what i was thinking, just lower the fuel pressure some at idle. So now i gotta find a adjustable fuel pressure regulator.. any ideas of where to find one?
