• Anyone got a writeup on A/C delete?

I did some searching and didn't find anything with a writeup. Or someone can just tell me how to do it, that works to.

have the system evacuated, (or purge it into the atmosphere if you dont care about the environment)then remove the compressor, then the condensor, then all the msc. lines. you will need a new belt, and i have no idea how long the belt for the 3.8L is, and depending on how the accesories are set up, you may need to get an AC delete pulley (if the 3.4L guys are reading this , you dont need a pulley)

hope that helps =)

Remove a lot of ****!

Purge the low side, purge the high side. (wear goggles, gloves, and have rags. purge with a screwdriver). Be careful with your paint, and do this outside or on the edge of your garage.
Unbolt the fittings, you'll need large / adjustable wrenches, and a few sockets. There are fittings by most of the components, so you should have no trouble finding these.
Remove the radiator cover, and if you've undone all of the fittings, you should be able to lift out the AC radiator-type-thing.
Next go for the canister type thing and it's bracket.
Next, grab your sockets, ratchet, and extensions, and go at the compressor (spun by the belt) after removing the belt. There are a few up front, a few out back. Sometimes you think you've got them, and there's one more still. The idler pully goes as well.
Tape up with duct tape the two fittings that go into the HVAC box. It's too much of a pain to remove, afaik. The additional components of the A/C are in there ... but i'll pass.
You'll need a 61.5" 6-Rib belt (615K6), or at least I did on my 97 3.8. Problem was that I have an U/D water pump pulley, which made the belt not fit, so I went back to my stock pulley for now.
Save everything! Tape up fittings, try not to bend lines. You might want to put it back on later (new oil, refridgerant).
Don't tell Mom you removed the A/C, and figure out a way to explain it to your girlfriend next summer. I have T-Tops ...

I had to remove mine to install a turbo. Carry a belt in your list of spares to the track, you might throw it and rip it up one day. Good luck!

O ya whats the a/c delete pully for? Can you just run the belt without it going on the ac pully (if you can the right size belt)?
