  • Cam on stock engine

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death in here but I wanted to see what people think about putting a cam in a stock engine. All I have is a lid and will be getting a cat-back for sure. I want to go with a cam because it's the most bang for your buck (next to N20). And with all of these 200+hp light weight cars coming out I want to run with them NA.

So am I looking for trouble running a stock valvetrain with a new cam? Even though I've heard of some that are made for stock. Sorry about posting about something that I should be researching but cams confuse the hell out of me and my own post is the best way I see to do it.

I dont think its a bad idea. You should get a good flowing intake and exhaust because that will really help. But other than that you should be fine doing a cam.

Compams charges $300 or so, install is roughly $600, HP increase depends on cam and current configuration of engine. Alot of cams you can get away with no programming. Some agressive cams you will need it. ZZPERFORMANCE.COM can program for $450.
