  • Cold Start Problems

Well ever since a few months ago my car has been starting pretty bad just recently it has been very cold and almost impossible to start. I ordered a new set of MSD wires and some Rapidfire plugs wondering if I might as well go for some new MSD coils I've heard they go pretty often on the 3800 and cause starting problems from what ive heard once the car is running you wouldn’t even know there was a problem. The alternator and starter checks out good and the battery is a new Optima red top. I've also heard of a bad fuel pressure regulator causing problems with hard starts. The thing turns over like a ***** a lot of cranking and some times a backfire like the fuel isnt igniting soon enough?

So I have compiled 4 possible reasons
    Plugs / Wires
    Fuel Pressure Regulator
    Coils
Mixture of Coils and Plug / Wires <--- What I’m guessing is the culprit

The easy way to check the fuel pressure regulator is to pull off the vaccum line and see if ya got fuel there. If so then its bad if not then its probably alright. Put a fuel pressure tester on the shrader valve and check the pressures. Im not sure what they are on the 00 but there easy enough to find if there in tolerances. If they are then that should rule out the fuel system.
