I know this has been discussed before, and I know its said that this isnt a good idea. BUT... Tom over at SSM is thinking about making one, if it can be done, and if there's buyers. Anyway, I guess this is more of a question for Dominic or magnus. Tom wants to know how the engine is balenced, internal or external. Check out the discussion over on the SSM forum http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/f...le=Engine+Tech

Yes, Tom said he can get them if there is enough demand for them. On the stangs it is a 13lbs flywheel. Shaves off at least 15lbs of rotating mass.
I know there has been talk of this topic on this web-site before so there is some intrest.
I know people have said it is not a good thing. Tom seems to think otherwise. If interested please let him know so that we can get some made. :DThanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

I'd buy one in a heartbeat, I will be needing a new clutch soon and I'd rather put that flywheel in over turning the stock one. Unfortunately I'm not sure how the 3.8 is balanced. I know somebody on this board had a stock flywheel lightened last year, but they didn't shave off much.Michael Huff
92 RS, 98 V6, 97 SS, 00 Z28
http://www.carolinafbodyclub.com/

external balance = 3.8
Spec charged $150 and shaves 8lbs off the outer rotating mass... a good deal and causes no problems.
This looks like an interesting option.
Are Fords externally balanced too?2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I just sent a 3.8 flywheel to Tom so we can see what kind of aftermarket piece he can come up with. Michael Huff
92 RS, 98 V6, 97 SS, 00 Z28
http://www.carolinafbodyclub.com/

Its going to be more than that, for sure... star specs only shaves yours down a little, Tom's making brand new ones, which should be alot lighter.
