LS6 makes 405hp, buy the LS1 and while you have the engine apart, swap the cam (valvetrain), headers, TB, waterpump, ect...u should then have more to the ground than a stock LS6. buddy of mine with just exhaust and cammed corvette (LS1) outruns Z06's all day...he ran a 12.2 by accident in a bracket race..

My bad, the LS7 RPO code USED to be used for a performance package...now there are alot of Trans Am guys with LS7 decals running around...I'll have to research to see their reasoning for putting it on.

Just go with an LS1! its easy and garunteed to work because so many people have done that swap before. BTW you can buy an LS1 from Lingenfelter for like 7k if you have a few bucks in your wallet, and its rated at 430hp
so a new 325hp ls1 from gm is $6100.. or a lingenfelter 430hp for $7000?

WHOOPS...i just read that i think you already have to have an LS1...they just do that list of stuff to the engine...but you should call them up and see what they can hook you up with anyways...

i have the stock 3800 right now.. package sounds nice.. if i had the money, but id rather spend 7000 on the actual engine than upgrading one i dont have yet ;)
im thinking of getting the ls6/ls7..
and apparently the ls7 wont go

why wouldn't it go? dimensionally it is the same as the LS1, except maybe its height. if the fly by wire thing is bothering you, keep in mind that after 2000 the L36 throttle body is also fly by wire.

this is all dreaming of course but by the time you buy even an LS1 and transmission (except junked ones), you could save up a little bit more and have an actual T/A, especially if you're looking at doing this "in 5 years," so to speak. by that time you'd be swapping in ancient technology...

so i should just wait and spend $10-15k on a T/A and then put a ls7 in it? wouldnt that come to like $23k
not understanding the part where i buy a T/A ls1 only to switch it out

the trans am guys are running around with WS7 badges, not LS7 badges. (unless you have a ricer crowd in that area)

WS7 was for a Ta/formula that has the ws6 style hood installed on it, so it was not a "fake" with a ws6 badge on it.

LS1 T/As won't cost 10,000 in 5 years. the newest ones are already 3-4 years old.

The LS7 is a 427cu in C5R block I believe. Fitting it into an f-body is possible but it will not be easy. There's a guy in the Orlando area with a 427 (or he used to at least) in his convertible SS camaro.

Damn! $7500 and it doesnt come with tranny, ecm, wiring harness, pulleys or accesories. Were almost talking $15,000 with everything, and then after that you still only have 400hp. :(
