wow... it takes balls to call magnus that...

***somebody needs to get laid!!*** seems like the extra pressure in your nuts is make'n you a TAD BIT CRANKY

edit:

Sorry for the "free Post" but i cant stand this fastv6 guy. all he does is complain about people complaining... and more than half of it is totally inappropriate for this forum..

shouldnt this forum be a friendly environment where us folks with similar cars can share ideas and get along? sheesh.

You need to be far stricter... Perhaps we need a forum JUST for valvetrain options I dont know... Its really irritating when advanced looks just like general.

People also need to post much more detailed subjects and quit writing essays about their problems or concerns. If it is not trully advanced it should be immediately sent to general.

The only suggestion I have is to simply remove the whole "advanced" area and replace the forum with a valvetrain forum for cams and such, which is basically what its turned into. Air fuel/timing and all could go there as well.

I agree "Advanced Tech" sounds to general. Going to a more specific forum title would be better, doing a Valve Train / Computer Diag / Tuning forum would probably be better. To go one step further why dont we change the screen where threads are written to have a big red text at the top that says, " Have you used the search function FIRST".

I don't think we'll be changing the title any time soon.. We just need to be more strict...

on the main forum it has a good description underneath

This guy is really annoying. He will not catch Magnus' record because Magnus has the 'I will be best' attitude about his car, which is good for the V6 community, it keeps us getting faster. Also, even if fastv6 did take the number 1 position, he couldn't offer the technical advice that Magnus does which makes him so valuable to the site. He has helped a lot of us with engine problems, and mod advice, so we all owe him a thanks.

Also, I agree that advanced tech needs more restriction. Mainly with the broad questions asked, and the broad topics to good questions. Keep everything as specific as possible!

The problem with the advanced tech board is that for each person "Advanced" is different. Some of us know ever little about cars while other know all. So to the people that know little some of the questions they ask seem very advanced. However to the truly advanced people they seem pitty. I dont knwo how you can change that

Members just seem to post in the wrong spot, or post here because they get no help in other sections. We need a rules or suggestions posted at the top of every page, like the links. I have noticed this as a problem in other sections too, like an endless torrent of "how do I double clutch" , "should I put a cone filter on my throttle body", "is it quicker to shift an automatic", etc. I've answered each of these several times, and it just gets old.

As for advanced tech, there are still some good questions, but the "choose a cam" stuff has to end, and there are several posts that flat out are ridiculous or don't belong in this section.

Of course, I've contributed a few.

-Rob

Edit: And you're cool, Magnus, don't let the dude get you down.

I haven't participated in the Advanced Tech forum too much because frankly I dont' know that much about my car. ....but I am learning.

Reading and participating in the AT forum will help those members who want to learn, and I worry that if you make it too strict, this will not happen.

General Tech is a catchall for everything right now... If you're going to have forums set up so that people can learn, they have to be tailored that way an enforced as such.

Perhaps Advanced Tech is fine, with some stricter enforcement... perhaps the problem is General Tech. It has become so watered down and all over the map that people feel the need to come to advanced for answers? Perhaps we need to split General Tech into 'daily maintainance' stuff like signal lights, defrosters and power steering pumps... and General Modifications.. where it's not advanced but it's all about mods and performance.

Then, make advanced stricter.

Just an idea to throw out and debate

Also, regarding the point about veterans not wanting to constantly reply to the repeated questions... I agree that searching should be done for the 'what should i do' questions. When a member has an circumstance/problem... it may appear to be common, but there are always new variables... so let the up and comers answer those questions.

People like myself...when i first joined way back I couldnt' answer anything... now I can handle basic tech stuff in some cases...and that helps me learn and feel a part of the community.

Anyways, keep up the good work Keith and Mike.

Keith-
I think a 'sticky' (if it's possible) post, that remains locked unless valid info is entered by a moderator...about what cam is good for what setup, nitrous, gear, heads, stuff like that...
would really help.
Keeps the post all the way at the top, everyone can see it in good plain view.

it seems like at NIGHT a lot of BS posts come up too.
Now I'm saying this in all seriousness keith...You know me, you know I can determine what is adv. and not adv., and what doesn't belong in here. I'll write steve an email about maybe helping out mod this section. Maybe you could put a word in. This stuff IS advanced, and there a lot of reposts mixed in with junk that belongs somehwere else.
You're doing a good job, but it's hard for 2 security guards to keep a mile long area of riff raff waiting to get in out, proverbially speaking.
