Saturday me an a couple freinds are putting my cam in. I know its suppose to be 500 miles before its fully broken in but can I just leave it idling the rest of the night Saturday and all Sunday? Or does any one know how long i need to leave it idling?

For the most part, there's no real need to break it in. Since we've got hydraulic roller lifters, there's not a big break in procedure. Let it idle for a while to check for leaks, etc, then drive around lightly to check everything out. You'll also want to change the oil after 50 or 100 miles. I was real easy on it for the first 500 miles or so. Started out not taking it above 2000, then slowly worked my way up to redline.

I didnt think I could stand driving it a couple hundred miles with that cam and not get on it once! Did you read the literature that came with the cam? It should tell you the cams break in procedures or what they recommend. Most cam companys have been in the business long enough to know how they're cams react to different break-in methods. I know with rollers, there's not much of a break in period, but you should check with the company, you never know. Better safe than sorry. Roller cam no break in.
