Is there any difference between the 2.8 crank and the 3.4 crank?

    stroke of a 2.8L = 76.0 mm

    stroke of a 3.4L = 84.0 mm

In the later 2.8 cranks and 3.4 cranks that's about it.

oh, btw oil pan, with the 2.8 on the 3.4, if it didnt clear the coil packs, they could be relocated right?

if you put a 2.8 crank in a 3.4 get some coustom pistons for the 3.4 bore and the 2.8 rods you could make a nice high rpm screamer!

Well you can splice wires and relocate the coil packs, it might be a PITA. I bet you can do it just figure out where the coils will go.

You would need pistons with a 3.4L bore but with a 2.8L piston pin hight.
They will be massive and should be forged or they will just come apart with high rpm's.

so do you think it would be worth the trouble to go with a 2.8 crank/commecting rods

maybe in a high revving solid roller cam setup it would be worth it

sounds like too much trouble, swap the motor if you want more power, or a high rpm screamer.

I've heard of some people swapping the 2.8 for a 3.8, but those are just rumors ;)
