OK. I have already performed a search and it didn't help me. I want to swap my 3.8 for an LS1 but i can't find out if it will fit in my 1997 engine bay. That is all i need to know. I know it is expensive but my car has 100K miles on it and i want to keep it running. i am kind of attached to it so i don't want to trade it in. I figured since i was getting a new engine it might as well be a V8. Please help if you can. Any info is greatly appreciated.
p.s. I don't want an LT1

well i'm almost positive a V8 out of the newer camaro's will fit in yours, it's just swaping them out which is a hassle but worth it if you want a new engine and the power it will bring. the camaro's have the same engine bay sizes its just what is in the engine bay is what is different. if you put a V8 in you should also think about a new tranny and rear also.

I heard someone once say that it will fit in the engine bay, but won't fit under the old style hoods. You might need to do the 98+ front end upgrade as well. But hey, if you are spending all the money for a LS1 upgrade, that would be chicken scratch.

The are very knowledgeable about f-body engine swaps and can tell you everything you need, like K-member, tranny, ecm, harness, etc.
Hey JosephLIcard. I to have thought of doing the LS1 swap when my '97 hits 100k so I was wondering if you or anyone for that matter could give me an idea on how much it will cost for everything need to do the swap. I will be doing all the labor myself so I just need the prices for the parts. Thanks for the help.
