Lets not turn this thread ugly.
According to GM Spec, any time you remove and replace the cam or crank position sensors a crankcase learn procedure should be done...
however in theory if you put it all back together the way it came apart it shouldn't be needed.
some don't do it, others do. If you are having problems from it you WILL know, car will run not so well, and SES light will set.
it doens't hurt to get it done.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

This is a set of instructions I have for the procedure. I still have not gotten around to doing it and my car seems to be running ok.
------------
Set the parking brake.
Block the drive wheels.
Ensure the hood is closed.
Start the engine and allow engine coolant temperature to reach at least 70°C (158°F).
Turn off the ignition switch.
Select and enable the crankshaft position variation learn procedure with the scan tool.
Start the vehicle.
Apply the brake pedal firmly.
Ensure the transaxle is in park.
Increase accelerator pedal position until the fuel cutoff is reached. Immediately release
the accelerator pedal after fuel cutoff is reached.
The crankshaft position system variation compensating values are learned when the rpm decreases back to idle.
If the procedure terminates.
Observe DTC status for DTC P1336.
If the scan tool indicates that DTC P1336 ran and passed, the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure
is complete. If the scan tool indicates DTC P1336 failed or not run, check for other DTCs. If no DTCs other than
P1336 are set, repeat the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure as necessary.Michael Huff
92 RS, 98 V6, 97 SS, 00 Z28
http://www.carolinafbodyclub.com/

Yeah I read the darn thing sometime recently and can't remember where. It was on a dude's site that had a picture of his car, then in the lower left he had buttons for his car, the bud light jingles, and a bunch of tech PDFs (including the CPS relearn procedure)
Wish I remembered where it was, musta been someone from here or EFA.
