I have had the worst time with this damned 3800SII S-10 conversion. I haven't worked on it in a couple of months, but I'm restarting the project again. Anyways, here's me question:
Would a '96 3800SII from a camaro set a DTC if the VATS code is active in the PCM. I found some OBDII DTCs that should be set if the PCM doesn't receive the VATS signal, but I want to be sure that it would set a code. I have AutoTap and I checked the DTCs and I only got 2 DTCs for fan1 & fan2 relays which is no surprise. I listed the DTCs that should be set by the PCM, but those codes are not there and I want to make sure that the PCM would actually set them if the VATS signal was missing.
DTC P1501 Theft Deterrent System
DTC P1502 Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Not Received
DTC P1503 Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Not Correct
DTC P1629 Theft Deterrent System - Cranking Signal
DTC P1630 Theft Deterrent Learn Mode Active
DTC P1631 Theft Deterrent Start Enable Signal Not Correct
DTC P1632 Theft Deterrent Fuel Disable Signal Received
Also, I got a BCM from a '97 camaro, but when I wired it up with the key that was in the car is didn't output the correct signal. I haven't had time to get all the possible resistors and try them out. I have also made an oscillator that runs a 50hz square wave signal at exactly 50% duty cycle, and that didn't work either. I'm thinking that there is something else wrong, but I'm the one that's probably wrong.
