• Lifters...

Ok, finaly narrowed it down to lifters. It's just a ticking and its driving me insane. Just wondering what lifters I should order. I'm looking for something good, not cheap because I plan on adding either N20 or boost soon. And while I have my motor torn apart is there anything else I should replace (any other weak points in the motor?). Thanks.

you should go ahead and do your pushrods and if you are planning on a cam later on then you should do your valvesprings. other than that i think the comp cams oe replacement lifters are your only choice but i might be wrong on that (someone will chime in if i am).

The 3.8's roller lifters are ticking?
You should be able to fix that with just ajusting them.
There not going to be cheap for a set unless you get them used.

They're not that expensive, should be less than $200 for a whole set. And to the best of my knowledge, T is correct about them being the only ones available, unless you wanna get stock replacements from gmpartsdirect.com. Trust me, you definitely don't want that because I've already priced them.

I plan to get a set as part of my top-end engine rebuild this year, along with new stainless valves, P & P heads and intakes manifolds, Intense or SLP rocker arms, pushrods, valvesprings, etc.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll do springs and pushrods while I'm at it. Wish I had the money right now for P&P, but that'll have to wait. Now, any recomendations for rods n springs? Thanks again.

...Just curious as to "what" was the prob. with your lifters to decide you needed a new set?
...where they worn flat and/or convex at the base?
...also correct me if im wrong, but if your gonna replace your lifters, you should plan on a new cam as well.

Gonna rip into it tomorrow to see the problem, and find out for sure if it is a lifter. And I'm already looking at cams. Got my eye on the GT2 as long as it'll be alright with N20.

i think that would be fine for N20 but talk to james to be sure. if you want to see some bigger gains with the juice get some pnp heads (abbott seem really good and are very reasonable). In fact it would probably be cheaper to put a set of abbot heads on than a cam since you will already be working on the heads when you are doing your valvetrain.

Heads will probably cost around $1000 by the time you're done. It pretty much doubled the price for my setup: about $1000 for the cam stuff, and another grand for the heads.

So I'd just send em off to abbott to be P&P, or they send me new heads?

 Where do you get them for $96? I paid $160 from Summit. Still better than $550 for stockers from a dealer, though.
