I am about to drop my heads, block, upper and lower intakes off to a reputable machine shop for boring, porting and polishing, and wanted to knwo if i should tell them anything special, i was asking for a 5 angle valve job, and to reduce the fins in the heads, but not remove them . Also i am going to ask them to grind back the oil return vanes so that oil gets back quicker. anythign else. i printed off super six's specs, and i want them to match if not make better. Can anyone think on anything else to tell them. will they have to grind for my 1.6 rockers??? what about valves?

If you're taking them to a shop and are worried about them knowing how to port, i'd question how good they were.Black 1998 Pontiac Firebird A-4 swap
271.4rwhp/259.4rwtq NA
13.30@102.44
www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98

how much are you planning on spending? it would probably be cheaper to get some abbott or ssm heads (the abbotts seem to put out better #'s though) and also have better peace of mind. the 1.6 rockers are the stock ratio so there shouldnt be any clearance problems.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Again, if you question how good they'll be, take them elsewhere! Buy aftermarket from Abbott, they make great power, and are only a little more money.

I wouldnt trust anyone with my 3.8 heads unless they do it every day. Theres not alot of shops with 3.8 head porting experience. I would suggest going with Abbott i havent used them but i keep reading great things about there head work and prices. And they do it every day so it will be a better port job then your local machine shop.
