• Lowering Compression Options - Using non Stock Compression Numbers

What are the ways of lowering compression, other than swapping pistons?

If swapping pistons is the only way, what companies make forged pistons at a reasonable price? I know of Ross Pistons, I heard they are fairly reasonably priced.

    Thanks for any input.

Thicker head gaskets is one option, but you're going to change very little that way and it's not necessarily a safe thing to do.

Swapping pistons is the only reasonable way.

GTP pistons would be another option!

same as above. thicker head gaskets would work, but it wouldn't lower it much. www.ammperformance.com and www.intense-racing.com both sell pistons for our cars.

port the heads as much as possible. every little bit counts. retard igntion & use high octane gas.

edit: I meant bowl blend the heads/c chambers. but y'all knew what I meant

OK guys, lets say that I mill the heads out to 11.5 compression for the time being, then want to take the compression down to 8.5, can I safely do this with forged pistons even though I've milled the heads?

Just get fresh heads... Besides, you cannot mill them to 11.5:1 by just shaving them flat. Ask Tom

I'm pretty sure Tom told me he could mill them .050" and raise my compression to 10.5. I don't know why I said 11.5.

can you mill heads and keep the valve train stock. also would there be any performance increase.. i think this would work best for nitrous..

Raising compression is worth insane amounts of power if you can keep strong enough fuel in the engine.

so if i were to raise compression. i'd have to run like 100 octane fuel

what if you raise the compression and only us 89 gas or is it like this, whenever you raise it, you must go 91 or higher to recieve any gains in perfomance from milling or changing the compression. i think i said that right. :D

run higher octane fuel, and adjust ignition timing.

                            2 questions for thought :D

                            1. what are the cc size differences between serie1 &2 engines? I know the series2 have a whole new head & intake design. just thinking.

                            2. destroke the motor. either by way of new crank or shorter rods. might involve a whole lotta $$$$$$$$, and custom piston w/the wrist pin hole moved higher might be better.
