  • Broken record, but here goes...

Okay, AZ3.8Camaro, I am very sorry that this will sound like a broken record, but a lot of the tech info inst working and I cant really find what I am looking for.

My goal is to run mid 13's. I already have: CAI, headers, Catco cat, 3" Flowmaster exhaust, 255lph fuel pump, 36# injectors and a 160* thermo.

I checked out your site and I am interested in your set up: cam + nitrous. I was thinking comp X-P Hot cam with a 100 shot. I have a 5175 kit. I was thinking Comp 105 springs, aluminum roller rockers and titanium retainers. I would also have it professionally installed and tuned.

Would that be a good set up?

Sorry if this is just "what cam" post, but the search option didnt give me anything.

a few quetions. do you have tuning? if not, how are you able to run the 36# injectors? do you have a automatic or manual? suspension mods? Being able to launch quickly will have a big influence on how soon you make 13's, not just hp.

Its not tuned. I havent installed the injectors yet, but I'm not running the 100 shot yet either. EJ's Dyno Shop here in Omaha will do the tune when I put them in.

I am looking into getting LSD with 3.42s maybe 3.73s.

The car is an automatic and no suspension mods...yet. I probably should have mentioned something about getting the gears, LSD and suspension. Sorry about that, but I do plan on it.

with an auto, a torque converter and bolt-on's will get you into mid to low 14's. I mean intake up to manifold, complete exhaust, 3.23 or taller gears, lsd, some sticky tires, and a few rear susspension mods.

After doing some more research I was thinking along the same line. I dont know if a cam and valve train will be worth the money cuz I would have to pay a pro mechanic to do it and he quoted me $1800.

Thanks for all the help guys. :)

Re: Broken record, but here goes...

I put in the cam on a stock motor.
                  Stock heads, stock intakes, etc.
                  Stock Injectors. NO TUNING.
Ran the 100 shot and pulled the 13.8@104 the first time on spray, with street tires (2.4 60' time). Ran another 13.8 the next run, eventually the MPH fell as the botte ran down. By the third time I ran a 13.8@102 with no helmet, so I decided to pack it up. Never been back since. Raped many cars on the street, but never went back the track.

I wanted to get slicks for the car and run a 12 something, but I still daily drive the car and don't want to break the 10 bolt, so I am happy with what the car did with what it had.

Moral of the story - Simplicity is often the best way. A good setup always beets throwing money at a car. Tuning is all its cracked up to be. Neither are running giant injectors.

EDIT - I also ran that time on 3.23's.
3.73s or 4.10s are a much better setup for this cam IMO, but they tend to break.
