wow with the spray you still only do 12mph??
but for real...12?!?!?!?! I get a little mad when I get 26 miles per gallon these days.

The swap is expensive, I remember even if you get great deals on everything it'll still cost around $4k

MrCoffee, I've said it before, I would spend a max of $2k on a wrecked Z28 and do the swap. http://car-part.com/

                  Re: ls1 swap

Engine, trans, pcm, engine harness, gauge cluster. Best if the pcm comes from a car with the same number of channels on the abs. (3-channel for non-TCS, 4 channel for TCS)

K-member, tranny cross-member, steering rack, steering coupler.

                  Radiator, rad hoses, heater hoses.

V8 fuel lines and the part that goes into the top of the tank. Or... '97 vette rail and fpr, and keep your lines.

V8 throttle cable. All the engine accessories (starter, p/s pump, water pump, alternator, a/c compressor, idler, tensioner). V8 maf, V8 throttle body, V8 lid. V8 exhaust parts.

                  Those are the main things.

Get some 12v switched power on the INJ2 circuit on the 3 fenderwell connectors, or one bank of coils and injectors will be dead.

not saying you cant do it that cheap, but if it were that easy to do it that cheap there'd be more people doing it. Most people contemplate FI or the swap since they're in the same price range

If you add the amount of work that needs to be done.. I just imagine All wiring.. Fuel lines out of wrecked car.. Turboing is hard but not that bad.

                        Re: ls1 swap

Somehow I had slipped dash wiring in my earlier post, but that's not right... In my '98 all I needed was the engine harness. The chassis harness and the dash harness was untouched.

Except for powering up the INJ2 circuit (which is not in the v6 chassis harness). I just pulled 12v off the rear o2 heater wire in the same bundle of wires, at the three fenderwell connectors. (I deleted the rear o2 sensors so I knew that feed wouldn't be overloaded.)

That was the only wiring thing I had to do on my swap.

I kept my fuel lines too, by using the vette rail. A rail mounted fpr (97 vette, and the v6 cars) rather than a tank mounted fpr (98+ LS1) is better in high hp applications anyway... :)

                          good info! THAnks!
the Tacreations.com website that I posted shows that little to no wiring needs to be done on my 2002.

And some of us try to do both... :D

And either one will cost more than you originally estimated too. Little things to finish it out, and additional supporting mods that are sometimes needed.
