    Re: oil pan gasket

i've replaced mine twice. and it's the biggest pita. buy a haynes manual and get ready for a full days work, the frist time i did mine i did it on my back and took just about 2and a half days. that was taking my time.

good luck, wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

little tip, when you get the pan to drop i found it easier to remove the oil pick up tube, make sure to clean clean clean your oil pan when you get it out, and the block. get a razor blade and scrap everything off. just don't put any kinda of scraps on the pan or block or your going to be in BIG trouble. and when your putting it all back together put rtv gasket sealer on the gasket.

the engine is already out. why would I want to replace my bearings?
        bearings are expensive
        thanks

Most of our engines have alot of miles on them, and the bearings get worn down, I don't know about your's imparticular, but its something to think about, and it keeps your engine nice and tight. Really bad bearings cause really bad problems, but I'm sure you know that much. Just saves time later if you plan on changing them sometime, because its alot of work to get to them. I plan on doing mine when I replace my oil pump probably early next year or early fall.

which bearings are we talking about here? I'm thinking...
              crank and cam
              and connecting rod
I dont know of any other bearings, except the balance shaft, but screw the balance shaft, I'm disabling the balance shaft.
the bearings dont look bad to me
