  • Msd Dis-4

hey everybody, i've got a question about this NEW msd dis-4 ignition i bought. I installed it along with the msd coil interface modules that go between my coilpacks so its easy to wire up. well i had everything in order and i started my car and it was misfiring like a bi$@h. i then called msd and they told me that i could have a bad box. so i sent it in to them and they tested it and it was perfect. so now my question is.....what do i do? does anybody else have an msd ignition installed? What is this "tach adapter" they said i might need this for my car.......any help would be great.

Hey I had the same prob. Found out the wiring diagrams were wrong. So this is what I did, Looked for the manual to the interfaces and that helped alot. I also used one of those power detector things to find out which prong was the positive. Once you find which one it is those will be your red wires (power). Then follow the interface manuel to find which one is the brown, yellow, white, etc.
Its your wiring thats crossed some were.

1999 camaro v6 auto. i'm thinkin that i had my channels in the wrong order. and if i remember right my positive is on the right. i've got it written down somewhere. its not even on my car right now, when msd sent it back with no probs i just havent had the time to install again. but i think i had the channels in reversed order.

Im at work right know, and my car is at home. But if you still have no luck I can draw a diagram when I get home and you can try it. I remember going crazy trying to install it. I though the box was a piece of crap, but it was just crosed wires. Have you tried to put the interfaces one by one?? Just use your bypass. My third one was good, first and second miss fire alot. Which was the problem.

ok my coil interface modules only have black and white, two whiye and two black, the white ones are on the outside. also what do i do with the brown and blue wires i know i only have to use one of them but they are supposed to be wired to switches inside the car, i think one of them is like a theft deterent switch. also i installed everything just now and i put the correct channels in order, i grounded that one wire for the 4th channel and i taped the other one. now i plugged it in to the msd ignition and its missing still. could it have something to do with the 12 volt? how is that supposed to be wired? i have all three 12 volts coming from the coils connected to both of the 12 volts coming from the box. could that be it? it works fine, no missing or anything with the bypass plugged in.

That brown (black) and blue wires dont hook up to nothing. Really dont need them unless you going to use them. Is the red LED light coming on when its running?
