well I should say that the new cam is in, we began the awesome task of putting the new abbotts on and ran into a bit of a problem with one of the studs, a friend accidentally stripped it when it didnt take correctly, so now it was sticking half way out and we will need to come up with a way to get it out tomorrow. As for now I can barely keep my eyes open, and i used a wire brush on my dremel to clean the piston surfaces ( which turned out awesome) and I just got done pulling one of the bristles out of the back of my head!!! Ouch.so for now Cam is in, and double roller is in, next..... pass. side head, ported manifolds, 65#'s, 1.7's and then all the odds and ends, anyone have any idea what this is gonna add up to hp wise? I wanna know, but no sense in getting a dyno right before the turbo.

hate to say it, but, youre not supposed to do that because the piston is soft aluminum
    Its what the Haynes says.
I guess it wont hurt too much, other than lowering the compression ratio barely
edit: glad youre getting it done though

you know, I debated it myself. I tried just brake cleaner at first and that was basically useless. Either way I went pretty easy on them, so hopefully no problems.

I know the feeling on how bolts can give you problems cuz Ive rounded a few off in my time. Luckily I have a craftsman bolt off kit. Cant wait til you get her done cuz it sounds liek shell be mean.

what is the bolt off kit? Would it remove this stud? also I should mention it is in a pretty tight space. any other suggestions?

Use your dremel with a cutoff wheel and cut a slot in the head of the stud and then either use a screw driver if it will work, or the Craftsman Screw-out damaged screw remover. Worked for me.

Just grab the stud with a big pair of vice grips and twist. This happend on my header install. Worked perfectly.
