  • Rebuilding a 3.8L for N/A power

As the title states I am having someone rebuild me a 3.8L for N/A power. I can spend about $750 in just the parts for the engine. I know nothing of rebuilding it so I am going to give it to my friend who owns a shop.

My question is on the cam. I can have my computer reflashed to accomodate this, but which one is the best for N/A power?

What other parts will I need to do this?

*edit* I've been looking at the GT3 cam, but the site says that I need upgraded pushrods, can anyone point me to those? Also, I need mod'd retainers, can anyone point me to those also? Their links are down on the zzp.

So far I have narrowed it down to this:

    New Timing Chain:

    Cam Install Kit:

    GT3 Cam:

    Pushrods

^^ Not sure on which ones to get... any help?

    New retainers to fit cam

^^ Are these the right ones? Is titanium really worth an extra 130?

    How does this all look?

for all that cam stuff you should go through abbotts racing. They are having a cam group purchase so like all that stuff is on sale and they can custom grind that GT3 cam for you.

GT3 was "designed for ported heads and added displacement"
it was made for the stroker setup

I have a hunch that it will work very nicely on a set of ported heads with stock displacement. Revved to 6500 RPM. Maybe even stock heads.
Valve springs are a must here.

I doubt it will work for stock heads, its a pretty radical cam. Also it will probably require you to have a pretty high idle to keep it form stalling dont you think.
