Hey man Im new here, but I have built a few engines myself and I would think every one who reads this will agree. You should not use lock tight on the internal parts of your engine you should use motor oil if you are using arp stuff the instructions will tell the exactly what weight I think 10w-30. I could be wrong about that part and you tork to specs in order of you assemble instructions. Oh yeah don't use synthetic just plain oil

I agree with blg153, except for the flexplate (flywheel) to torque converter bolts. Ever since the bolts loosened off and some lost on my buddies 67 RS camero, I've been using permanent locktight on those.

When those bolts loosen off or go missing some weird shaking stuff starts to happen!

Hey guy you are both right flywheel and torque converter bolts need lock tight and if your head bolts pass through a coolant passage you should use it, but not on bottom end. I don't know about rocker arms through. I ussally run roller rockers on stud and they have a built in locking mechanism.

I would put some sealant on the head bolts, but new ones come with some kind of orange sealant, and you should be using new ones. Don't put anything else on there. Don't put anything on the head gaskets either.

Any bolts that comes factory with with sealant on it, should get sealant if being reused. Not locktite red though. Use thread sealant paste, which I know the loctite co makes. New bolts come with sealant if needed, so you wouldn't want to put something over the top of that.
Make sure you use sealant on your front cover bolts for sure.

You want me to put thread sealant paste on my head bolts? You definately dont mean rtv right?
I have bought 3 sets of new head gaskets and none have come with any kind of sealant. They were fel-pro though. On the label it says that it was meant for like 98-2001. Mines a 2002.

Not RTV, it's kind of like teflon paste. Its called thread sealant. Like I said, it comes already on most bolts when new from GM. I think it is orange on the bottom of the threads. Reason being is that front cover and head bolts often have water running under them somewhere.
Take your RTV and throw it as far as you can while your installing your head gaskets. Don't put anything on them.

They don't COME WITH SEALANT, they HAVE SEALANT already built in.
