new rockers and cam question

im rebuilding the top half of my 97 3.8l camaro and wanted to know what rockers i should put in and/or what cam. what all do i have to change if i do put a new cam in. thanks

you will have to get new rocker arm bolts(gmpartsdirect.com is cheapest). You also might have to get a new timing chain. new water pump gasket. valve cover gaskets etc

there is a write up on cam install made a sticky. Do not do a cam and rockers together unless you are getting ported heads, also some cams require different valve springs and retainers.

correct, but with a cam you can safely go to 1.7, I have even seen a guy with 1.8's with a massive cam and abbott heads I woulda done that too, didnt know I could go that big.

1.6 is the only thing you can 100% say you can safely run with a cam.

Rockers raise valve lifts and the actual amount of lift is going to depend on the cam there isn't a generic number for it.

you're right I should have added with P&P heads, tit retainers, and guides cut down.....then it would be saf....er
