  • rod bearing plastigage help?

My book gives a horrible description of how to plastigage the rod bearings.
    How do you do it?
    thanks

Cut a piece of plastigage, about 3/4 of an inch or so, place it on the crank journal.

Put the rod end cap on and tighten to spec.

take the rod cap back off and measure the width of the plastigage with the supplied measuring device.

Then look in the manual and see if it's within specs. BUT, Don't forget to take it off before you put the rod on there for good. Have fun.

My dad and I just made sure all the plastigage came out to approx the same width after tightening it down. Although that probably doesn't help.. it's how I did it. 1500 miles later and I'm running just fine.
