  • What can I expect?

I have a 2000 Camaro 3.8L with stock 3.42s and LSD. I have a borla 3" catback exhaust, SLP CAI, and a Whisper lid. I am getting the GT1 Cam from zzperformance and I was wondering what kind of rwhp I would be looking at after a tune. I'm not at all aware of what a camshaft adds and I would like to know because I want to maximize the performance of my car. Thanks.

I hate doing the work for somebody... but:

"Look for gains of 20-30 HP depending on your car's current configuration with a drop of 1/2 sec in the 1/4 mile."
2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

      cam: 20-30hp
      borla: 10hp
      cai: 5hp
      ---------------
i'm gonna guess 60-65 hp at the crank

i did not make you look dumb. You ultimately asked for a guess at what your hp would be with all those mods and a tune added up.. I gave you a guess with all the mods and a tune all added up.

cams do need to be broken in roughly 300 miles, for those who do not know much abotu cams I great reccomend you get a quote on install, I dont think you will be so energetic after you realize the total price of it, a $300 part that will cost over $700 for install....that is of course unless you do it yourself (a lot of fun let me tell you.)

also make sure you can youse your stock springs with that cam.

when v8 guys self install cams it cost around $1k-$3k, cause they find that they have to replace alot of stuff

A hyd. roller cam like ours needs no break in at all.
I would probably still baby it a little just until you get all the little bugs worked out.
I.E. - Don't start it up and blast off down the road. Start it, let it warm up as you bleed the coolant, when thats done, turn it off, check the oil. Then go.
