or at least I wish our engines were 2-stroke instead of 4-stroke.
Why are dual overhead cams better?
Whats the purpose of having 2 exhaust valves and 2 intake valves?

If we had 2 stroke, smog emmisions would be outa control and we'd have to mix oil with the gas.. (think weedeater and lawnmower).
The new LS7s are dry sump I believe.
And the more valves I think the higher flow rate. Not sure if it helps anything else.

I would think that 2 smaller valves would flow faster(velocity) than 1 big valve which is a good thing. I would think they flow the same CFM though?

2 strokes are kinda dry sump systems I think.
because they remotely store the lubricant (gas/oil mixture).
because they dont have a large oil pan like a wet sump.
ya, the 2 stroke idea was bad... too bad you cant reuse the
used/combusted old oil.

Hehe hey there. Got my 98 V6 bout a year ago now. But recently caught the "modding bug" Didnt know a darn thing about engines till a few months ago. Now I can't stop reading about it.
So I'm certain I said some pretty obvious things :p
Great community here and loads of information, love the site so far.
In short - 4 valves allow for a more efficient combustion chamber design. This allows a better burn, as well as a better mix in the chamber.
Overhead cams allow the removal of lifters and pushrods from the engine, and usually allow more RPM for that reason.
2 stroke, although great for quads and dirt bikes, stinks and is loud and smokey. I wouldn't drive it everyday in traffic.
A dry sump is great, if you pull a ton of G's. Otherwise they drive up the cost of production, which on a cheap v6 model, is a bad idea.
