I just popped mine a little and it more or less fell out.

There is an oil hole in the back of the block that needs to be plugged if you remove the shaft. (towards the top of where the shaft used to be)

*UPDATE*
I got my Shaft removed (no, the other one, stupid).
I cant tell a difference in engine vibration AT ALL! Period!
and I run crazy AFRs 10-19 afrs

GM shouldnt have ever invented the 3800 or 3400,etc series of balance shaft engines.

So if I take off my timing chain cover right now, I have to re-prime the oil pump. right?
I forgot to put on the dam CAM accumulator or whatever you call that magnet
