Anyone used one or know what one is for? I know, I have one coming in the mail. I just want to see if anyone knows anything about rebuilding engines.

Besides needing a "Bottom End" forum, I also think we need a "Tools" section
2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

This is the "bottom end" forum.
    Search google for the tool.
    Google is your friend.

I don't know if there should necessarily be a separate section for "bottom-end" but I definitely think a tools section would be an excellent idea. I think we'd have more do-it-yourselfers out there if more people felt more comfortable with the tools and equipment. and more do-it-yourselfers, the more modded f-bodies there will be... win/win
Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
        Custom interior...

I know about rebuilding bottom ends.
I haven't had to do it on the 3.8, because I haven't blown it up yet, but I have done others.
I would say that the bolt stretch gauge may be a little overkill, but if you want to use it, have a blast!
New rod bolts with clean rods and proper lube will get you a pretty accurate torque on the bolt.

We have one and I've only used it once. I compared ARP's torque specs on a set of rod bolts to what they wanted the bolt to be stretched and the torque reading stretched the bolt EXACTLY what they said they wanted the bolt to stretch.
