If that's what he was saying then that's probably right. Anyone that doesn't have exhaust yet really doesn't need to be looking at a cam anyway though. You have to get the supporting mods to really take advantage of big ones. I'd piss my pants if I gained 15 rwph with intake/exhaust on a stock car though.

You can easily gain 15hp from intake / exhaust combo... I work at a shop, (we dont have a dyno) but ive put on a K&N intake and a x-pipe exhaust on a friend of mine's 5.0 and he gained 24hp. Has the dyno to prove it.

It's different when you've got the two extra cylinders to breathe... Different scenario.

True. But im saying 15hp is totally possible for a 6cyl with intake / exhaust.

I don't think anyone on this board has witnessed anything close to 15 hp with just intake and exhaust. Maybe ram air and FULL exhaust. I still say its a little wishfull.

The gt2 can be run on a bone stock car and run fine with no tune. You might gain a few extra ponies from the tune, but its not required.

I have a cam very similar to it, and I get no codes, lopey idle at 1000 rpm, never stalls, good vacuum, good power. It is STILL completely untuned as well.

              Re: GT1, GT2, and P0300

I appreciate the info AZ3.8Camaro, do you think it would be worth a mail order tune with the GT2 or just to leave it be? I think i'm gonna go with the GT2. The car has cold air, headers, full 3" exhaust, plus all your drivetrain mods like aluminum driveshaft, LSD, gears, etc. I think i'll get teh GT2, LS6 valve springs, LS1 retainers, zzp pushrods (what length?), and get just factory replacement lifters from autozone or wherever. oh and just use the rockers that are already in it. anyone see any issues with this setup? or does it sound good?

P.S. I assume that when everyone refers to LS6 springs and LS1 retainers they are referring to replacement factory retainers for an LS1 engine correct? i just dont want to go make an *** of myself and ruin something. probably a stupid question just making sure its not some strange brand or something.

I bet mustangeater(eric) or shenanigans has done it.
I didnt say RWHP, I said crank hp.
I didnt mean to exaggerate sorry.
I would venture to guess that if you had ram-air, no air filter, whisper lid, free air intake mods, and open headers or open y-pipe you could make that 15 hp easily.

You do get the P0300 code with GT2, and the car dies when at idle or when you try to reverse, but other than that, sure, it runs. The shift points have to be adjusted as well to take advantage of the power gain in the upper-rpms.

I don't get the P0300 or anything CLOSE to a stall, no codes in fact. No tune yet either. Been running this way for over 2 years now.

I don't have the GT2 though, I have the same lobes, lift and duration, but on a 112LS instead of 111. Maybe a minute difference in power on the top end, maybe not, but probably improves idle a little bit.
If your car is stalling, perhaps you have an automatic car and a stock torque converter? Or maybe there is some other issue, because I really don't think it should stall at idle. Mine idles nicely at 1000 rpms or so, it lopes, but never stalls.

                      Re: GT1, GT2, and P0300

When I installed the GT2 cam my car didnt have any problems at idle.
In fact, the sound clip thats in the sticky of my car is without a tune. The
car ran fine with a stock tune except for the P0300 code. I got a tune from
pcmforless and it feels like the car runs better so if you have the money I
                      would recommend a tune.

This may just be my car, but the zzp recommended shift points are to high.
Mine stops pulling hard at about 6000-6200. After those rpms it feels like
its struggling to make it to 6500.

When I installed the cam I also installed zzp 3/8" pushrods, comp 105# springs
                      , and ls1 style retainers.

                        Well, as I said before.

When you put in the GT2, chances are, you are going to throw the misfire code, and have it die at idle if you dont have it tuned. When its tuned, those codes will be removed, and the car will run smoother, and get better gas mileage (if you care).

With the GT2, my auto car stalled almost everytime at idle and had horrible misfires until it was tuned. Did anyone else have timing/misfire issues when they put the cam in?

My car ran fine untuned with the GT2 and its an auto. I don't understand
why some cars run fine without a tune and some don't. I guess all cars
are different. But like I said it ran better with a tune.
