          Re: Pistons

I see where youre coming from.... Im swapping the top end but as far as I know I have to switch to the 3400 pistons to keep a safe CR. 3400 heads on a 3.4 makes like a 12:1 CR. That site carries 3.4 pistons not the 3400 pistons which carry a different CR. I also am in no need of fordged pistons, just looking for stock hyper pistons.

unless I am totally crazy, and stop me if i am 3400=3.4, cause I know for a FACT 3800 = 3.8

              Re: Pistons

yes they are the same size motors, but the pistons in the 3400 (fwd) are different than the pistons in the 3.4 (rwd)

                  really? learn something new everyday
I always just thought that 3800 or 3400 means it has a balance shaft.
I really wonder if I could put pistons in from the bottom of the block. (not taking off heads or pulling the engine at all). I want to be 1st to do it.
I sure as hell aint pulling my engine again..
If I were you I would search around message boards for 3400 pistons.

Not a car at all.....I have an s-10 that this is goin in. Planning on running it on megasquirt and boostin it. I already had the 3.4 in the truck with a tbi setup, but Im swapping on the 3400 stuff which is far better designed. Tried searching but all Im finding is links to fordged 3.4 stuff

                          leave the tranny in
just drop the oil pan, crank and possibly the cam
I saw that it might (big MIGHT) be possible
I want to be the first to change bottom end with the engine in the car.

why because you are thinking of upgrading your bottom end?

I guess it's possible ... but good luck getting the crank and flywheel out with the tranny still hooked up. And, that crossmember's gonna be a %^&* ... You're a bigger man than me to try it. I'd just pull the motor and make life a whole lot easier.

I dont think I really have much of a choice. I am pretty sure I will snap my rods like toothpicks. But I have never pulled a motor before, and I know my way around the top end, but not so much the bottom end.
