you will still need to change your pistons/rods out as well with that kit to keep compression down

It's actually pretty variable. With the 3400 top end and a cam(w/bolt-ons), Russel's 3.4 made 216bhp. 2 things to take into account is that those parts were not ported, nor has he tuned his computer. So there's probably an additional 20 or more hp with a port and tune. If you was to use that p&p top end along w/ a cam, tune, and bolt-ons, I see no reason why you couldn't make 250-260bhp. Of course you'll need 3400 pistons and RKSport headers. You could probably beat LT1's with that configuration since you'll have a better power-to-weight ratio.

                EDIT: Then go turbo

I don't care about that. There's always a way. I just want to be able to say that I didn't give up on the 3.4 and took it far.

Don't give up on that 3.4 yet. There are a few of us building up 3.4's on here. I noticed some big gains after my P&P, cam, and header install. I am currently dancing around the tune so that I only have to do the megasquirt once (when I get the turbo).
