  • Pro mag rocker question

I am thinking about getting the Comp Pro Mag 1.9 ratio rockers from ZZP. My shift points have not been moved above 6000 rpm. I have intake, headers, full cat-back exhaust, 100 shot of nitrous and a tune. 2 questions:

    1. Should I get 105# springs or 90# springs? Which ones combat valve float?

    2. Will I need new spring retainers?

    TIA

    Yes, I tried a search ;) :)

105's will combat valve float better, and yes, you will need titanium, or some form of upgrade.

                  Those look sweet!!

I am going with 1.9's and 105# springs. I did a little research on the 90#'s and they are best for N/A, but with nitrous or boost the 105#'s will be better against valve float.

1.9's means you are never planning on a cam : (

                      Re: Pro mag rocker question

Nah, no cam. I have thought long and hard about a cam, but its just too expensive cuz I cant do the install and paying a shop is $1700 (parts included). The only shop in my area that will do it (on a 3.8) has a $hitty reputation and have been know to f*ck up simple jobs on several cars. Plus ac cam will require another tune, the rockers will be okay on the current tune I have. Sooooo, I figured what the he11, I can do the rockers myself and people have gotten 20-25hp on boosted motors with them so why not. Plus after the rockers, I will have hit my spending limit on this project :(

                      Cam + install + tune = ~$2100

                      Rockers + retainers + springs = ~$550

If you had the time, trust me, a cam is a very do-able task, but I see the argument. Rockers will work out just fine, and be a lot less of a headache then a cam....trust me.
