  • ARP Studs + Pacesetters Headers

Alright, I was installing ARP studs today and I started wondering, "Is this going to get in the way of my pacesetter headers???? So, I tried putting the headers on with the studs still loose in the heads.

And it looks like its not going to fit!!! Can anyone confirm this? Is it going to fit alright after I tighten all the bolts? Am I going to have to cut off the tip of the studs? Should I take off the washers? Maybe that will help?

Aw crap. Now I gotta go back to TTY bolts and sell my ARP studs. This whole thing has been nothing but pain in the ***. I wish I woulda known this before I got the studs.

Oh yeah, what kind of stuff did you try? Did you ever try grinding the part of the flange with an angle grinder?
Theres got to be a way to do this. This guy was selling a car with ARP studs and Pacesetters. http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread...uds+Pacesetter

Got it! It only took me like 15mins to plan it and execute it.
I was all stressed out for nothing.:P

Hopefully its smooth sailing from here. I've been running into nothing but problems. :(

Yes the flange will hit and yes it's an easy fix. Just get your dremel or grinder or whatever and grind the flange back a little.

wait, maybe i understood your situation incorrectly.

i tought you were trying to pull the heads out while leaving the pace setters in the car on the exhaust, THAT can not be done. but pullin the out all togehter, probably not a big deal.

Not even talking about pulling the heads out. I'm talking about putting pacesetter headers on a heads after I put the ARP studs on.

What did you do with the bolts for the headers though? Two of them hits the studs and I can't get it to go in.

You might try screwing your studs in the block further. My studs didn't hit the header bolts.

I just got done putting everything back together. Put the key in, turned it and it started right up. Thanks alot for the advice man!
I'm gonna put the turbo back on and what not tommorow. Hopefully everything will still be working great tommorow. There was alot of smoke coming out of the engine bay. Didn't smell like coolant so I'm just hoping that the headers are leaking or something simple like that.

prolly whatever solvents you had sprayed on the manifolds and such. i bet it lasted for just a couple minutes then was gone?
