I know this is a V6 forum but my engine is about to go down. I have over 180,000 miles on it and it needs be replaced. I figured if i was going to put 3 large into a new engine, may as well be a V8. Does anyone have any advice for swapping an LT1 into the 97' i drive?

Re: Engine Swap???
1st of all thanks for stealing my name!! lol well the only thing i know to tell u is to find a 97 lt1 wiring harness and of course get a lt1 engine and the works with it...lots of work to do on it specially if its a v6, the rearend would probly need to be swapped for posi, another transmission 6 speed or 4 speed, and not sure its true or not but maybe even have to change the driveshaft, lots of work and time and money if u really want a v8...probly better to just buy a 97 t/a or camaro with the v8 in it. hope this helps.

Re: Engine Swap???
first of all i dont think you know what you are getting into with a LT1 swap.
You say you are young and have a lot to learn, and this is possibly the most complicated of tasks to learn or do.
If you do want an LT1 you would be much better off economically wise, selling your car and buying a Z28.

Re: Engine Swap???
yea, exactly caspernicus, that's what i'm gonna do, we just got our new polebarn built and i'm now gonna have some room to keep a project motor, so i can just take my time and do it right.:excited: I would just do that, plus gas is gonna go back up soon and when it does do you really wanna pay for gas for a v8 i know i don't. It is your car though, good luck!!!!

Re: Engine Swap???
If you can afford it than i say roll with it. You said ls7, that would be very nice. Good luck with it. Are you gonna keep the ls7 stock, or are you gonna build it up right when you get it. It would almost be easier to build it up as long as you have it out of the car, but anyways, good luck keep me updated.
