:work: why go to the 4.3???? That doesn't make much sense money and workwise, either 3.8l or v8 that thing and it will be easier and possibly cheaper for ya.

he is probaly thinking about funding.....it is probaly alot cheaper... what kind of power does the 4.3 have.. if it is close to the same then it does not make any sence. i am stuck on a little fence myself right now... i was thinking of building a lt1 and slaming it in my car.. or a 383 stroke... i have not decieded yet.. ahh screw it were is the nearest 572 lol....

Swapping the PCM is going to be a big PITA I would think. Would the stock K-member work for the 4.3? Probably need custom exhaust, well Y-pipe anyhow. Will the 4.3 fit up to the tranny of an fbody? Lots of varialbles to think about...

I'd go with a 3.8 or V8, probably cheaper and more mods are available for them than there are the 4.3. Guys who mod mini trucks swap the 4.3 for carbed 350's with no computer. The 4.3 is built for low-end torque, the top end power sucks.

the transmission is compatible with the 4L60E if its a vortec 4.3L off a s10 or sonoma. i agree tho, good low end power none up top.

the tranny from a v6 fbody will not work on any 4.3, the bellhouse pattern is different
and you will need a lt1 front crossmember or the 4.3 wont fit(the 4th gen v8 crossmember sit lower)
the 96 and newer heads flow great and would make good power with a cam and lightweight 9.5 cr pistons

                    Re: the big swap!!!

Since a 4.3 is a 350 minus two slugs he could get forged rods and pistons for it.

Your tranny should work fine, but you need the bellhousing from an s10 to go between the engine and tranny. The 4.3s use the v8 bolt pattern.
