Re: stroking 2.8 v6
I imagine it would work. Dunno if the 3.1 and 2.8 blocks are the same (RWD to FWD that is).
They have the same bore though. Might as well get a 3.4L though cause it wouldn't take much more and the 3.4L is a bored and stroked 2.8L that is RWD. You can pick up a long block for less than $100 at most salvage yards.2005 Ford Focus ZX3 SE D20 M5 - Modified ;) http://www.knightenmotorsports.com
[ U R L = h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / h e a r t l a n d _ h e a t _ v 6 ] Heartland Heat V6 [ / U R L ]

Re: stroking 2.8 v6
from my understanding, the 2.8's (or at least some of them) had the smaller journal diameters. This tended to make them a bit weaker than the 3.1 and 3.4 cranks.
I am wondering, why are you looking to build a 2.8? a 3.4 would almost certainly fit where the 2.8 currently sits, and since they are all practically the same engine and have many interchangable parts, why not just use the 3.4? Hell, slap on some AL heads and intatke from a 3400 FWD engine, install the dished FWD pistons, and you are good to go.Phill

95 camaro... need money for turbo project...
94 S10 Blazer - winter beater - infinity system to be installed soon

\"The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man doing it...\"

Re: stroking 2.8 v6
if you're interested in the aluminum head swap, do a search on Russel, as he did this swap (along w/the matching intakes) on a 3.4. Also keep in mind, NONE of the 3100/3400/3500 intakes make provisions for a dizzy. Best bet would be to aquire a 3.4 block (already set up for DIS) and swap everything over.
Just slapping on aluminum heads & going is NOT the answer, and will only frustrate you until you do the full research.
The 82~84 2.8 had the smaller mains than the 85+'s did.
iirc, :
3.1 is a bored 2.8
3.4 is a bored & stroked 2.8

Re: stroking 2.8 v6
it wsa my understanding as well that the 3.1 is a stroked 2.8 and a 3.4 is a bored and stroked 2.8.
Yeah, i knew there was a small journal 2.8, but i wasnt exactly sure of what years.
a "dizzy" is a distributor. If you have one, and need one, that will need to be considered as the FWD heads and intake are all set up for the DIS systems.
oh, and if you are lookin for a 3.4.. i know where one is sitting.. but its in PA... are you anywhere close?Phill

95 camaro... need money for turbo project...
94 S10 Blazer - winter beater - infinity system to be installed soon

\"The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man doing it...\"
