can some one post some links that is can read up on about a 99 3.8 A4 to a LS1 swap and what are the differences between a v6 camaro and a z28?

Believe me, it's not worth it. FIrst of all, you need an LS1 from a 99 a4, with all accesories and a tranny and that's gonna run you at least 4k. Then you need new springs/shocks for a v8. You also need a new cluster. You need new brake lines, a radiator, engine cradle, fuel pump, ac and coolant hoses, and a mechanical accelorator pedal. Some reccomended upgrades would be fatter sway bars, larger injectors, dual fans with a manual fan switch, new motor mounts, rebuild the engine, tranny, and replace all fluids and belts. It is also reccomended that u upgrade to a moser rear end or something of that caliber, as the stock rear ends suck *** for the LS1 vehicles, not to mention our even softer rear ends in a v6. If you still wanna go further into this project, look on ebay and make a price guide of these parts. Togehter, you can buy another SS and keep your v6. Just my .02. Good luck

enginge cradle? now FWD here, but new motor mounts, yes.

also no new fuel pump

Well I didn't realize our rears were the same, but they are still ****ty. The other issues you are addressing are what I said are reccomendations. The new engine cradle you need is from an ls1 because the ls1 engine cradle sits lower. For the reason that the cradle sits lower, the motor mounts are different and you will need to get ls1 motor mounts. Those are not an option. A rebuild is always reccomended with any used engine. As you can see though, I did say these items are reccomended, but thank you for clearing up the rear end issue. Just so everyone knows, our fuel pumps run at the same PSI, but the LS1s use a higher volume and they have the fuel regulator built into the tank.

Do you know of anything else I am missing? I know you probably know more than me on this topic, since when I thought about doing it, I stopped after finding out how much half the parts were to do it :(

i have the opportunity to get a ls1 in extange to work with my dad on this guys camaro.
so i was looking in to maybe doing the swap and what else was needed.
should i go for it?

all i can say is it is a very involved swap, you will need everything that me and v6motor listed. Its going to take quite some time, and if you have never done a swap before and are not working with anyone else who has done it, I would no suggest it.

+1 on the mark. If you have never done a complete swap before, do not have at least 2+ months, and free flowing cash, you'd be better off to take the ls1 and sell it along with the car for a z28. Shoot, you may be able to get an ss with the money you make from your car and the ls1. The most important thing is that it's what you want and not what we say. Ultimately, it's your decision and we will support your decision. Good luck
