    Re: double roll timing chain

I was advised by some that if you run 130# + springs that you need the double roller chain but the people over at abbott racing said to just buy a new single chain and dampener, but im not too sure about doing this.

You'll also need a milled oil pump backing plate as it becomes a clearance issue. really only needed if you have 130# springs or higher.

yea if you have a stock car yet, then get the single. Do you have any top end work done?

        Re: double roll timing chain

Just started installing everything, got zzp stg 2 heads with 90's on them. Thats the reason I asked, since engine is out might as well safeguard myself. I did see those two posts, thats why I was wondering if anyone has one. Quote: "the only springs besides 130's and higher that require the double roller are the 90lb ls6 springs"

          Re: double roll timing chain

Well yeah if you have those 90# ls6 springs get the double roller, and since you have the engine out you can take the balance shaft out too.

Im using the 90's in my car wth a Gt cam and Im not runnign a double roller. Ive not had any problems with it as of yet and its been in the car a year now. Ill probably get a double when i put in the Abott heads this summer.

one less thing the engine needs to turn and suck up hp, its only there to keep vibrations lower. When someone builds up an engine they usually remove it
