  • Stock heads maximum lift

Does anyone know the maximum lift of the stock heads on the 1998-2002 Firebird? I need to find out what ratio rockers I can use with the aftermarket cam I'm getting. Thanks

To be honest you should get the cam with the lift you want and not use rockers to add more. The stock rockers are actually fairly efficient since they have a roller pivot just not a roller tip.

Stock rockers are 1.6. I'm not sure of the max lift right off. Have you tried searching yet? I'm sure someone has posted it by now.

                Re: Stock heads maximum lift

Ive heard .515 is the max lift before the stock ls1 type retainers hit the valve seal. But this can be pushed further by modified retainers and viton valve seals. ZZP says the combination of those 2 will give you .05 more. If thats true, then you would be able to run .565 lift.

I have also seen ZZP post that gains from more lift become very minimal on stock heads after .510.
