Hey guys, how much horsepower can a 3.4 hold if it had forged pistons and rods, with stock heads?

im confussed youve been a member since 05 but it doesnt seem like youve read anything. and your really kinda asking 2 questions the 3.4 bottom end with the addition of forged pistons(rods are already forged) will easily take 500hp, your not going to get there with the stock heads without a lot of boost or juice. if you truly want all the motor has to give swap to 3x00 heads get them p&p through in some forged pistons a cam and put a turbo on it then tune it with megasquirt.

edit: The strength of the heads is the least of your worries

add in a FWD 3500 crank (factory forged) and you will be capable of handling even more power, this is what i live by, nothing is impossible with an engine it all depends how deep your pockets are, research and money are your best friends when building a high horsepower engine ;)

you dont adjust timing on a 3.4

my 3.4 has handled 10 psi from a t70 on a stock tune...it can handle MUCH MUCH more if built right

Sorry if i sound like noob, but this turbo stuff is all new to me. I thought that you had to retard the timing for every few lbs of boost or something. Where you using any sort of fmu on your car, and was with stock injectors?

at the time i was using megasquirt to only control my 60 lb injectors. the timing was stock, which is why i didnt go over 10 psi. i'm working on a FAST system to take care of everything and then i'll just keep uping the boost every now and then until something breaks i plan to start at 15 and go from there
