Haven't decided on the turbo(s) yet. Probably will depend on what deal comes along before it's ready for boost. I have a to4e, and was thinking maybe low boost with high compression, but there are some nice supporting mods waiting to be used...
MegaSquirt standalone ECM...
Tial 38mm Wastegate, and and Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump (will support 800hp)...
wow man that is impressive. how much is this looking at causting? and those horse power numbers that you are looking at reaching are off the charts. i wish you the best of luck we need a vid after you get it done. :burn:

Block $400
Top end $300
Crank and bearings $100
Misc small parts $100
Gaskets, oil pump $220
75mmTB $50
Cam bearings $30
Exhaust header tubing $250
Header flanges $50
Cam and lifters $140
Not too bad. Less than $1700 for a brand new engine that should make over 250hp to the wheels N/A. If I had started with a block that didn't have 120k on it, then it would be far less because of all the money involved in rebuilding completely. It should be low 14's N/A.
A full 3500 in a Cavilier just dynoed (rough tune as you can see with the peaks) over 270whp (about 315 crank) with similar mods as mine is getting...
cool thanks
make sure you post up dyno runs when its done i want to do this swap as well i just dont know if the 3500 upper plenum will fit the 4th gen clearences
good going man

The 3500 plenum should be able to be modified to fit with a little welding/cutting. If not, a 3400 UIM will bolt right up to a 3500 LIM.
Pretty freakin cool man.. Very nice... I'm in the process of getting this together for my 3.4 now too..
Which leads me to this question.. Where did you find all your parts for the 3500? I keep lookin on ebay but havent come across anything yet..
I was lookin at the stuff on 60*v6, but I'm not lookin to spend 1500 for the new components (plus I'd like to port all my own stuff too..)
But again, very nice.. Good luck with the project.

OH! one last thing.. what pistons are you using? Can you obtain forged pistons to work with the smaller chambers of the AL heads?

I'm modifying the heads to work with RWD pistons. The compression will be a tad high for boost, so 3400 pistons will go in their place when I'm ready to re-turbo the car...
so from the looks of it, you massaged the chambers and opened them up a bit.. or am i missing something? What will you get the final chamber size up to? the work looks really good though..
I was lookin at the boosted route as well, so i'd rather build this thing once with the right pistons.. any leads on forged sets with the proper dish?

Most major Mfgr's can make you a set of forged pistons, expect to pay about $600-900 for a set. I'll dig up some more info later, there are a couple that already have templates/drawings to re-produce them from. Other mfgr's might need you to send a piston to copy.
No, the chambers stayed the same size. Just laped the seats and the valves are soaking in cleaner. Once the valves are re-installed the chambers will be CC'd and any touch-ups made to be sure of consistancy.
Hi, everyone. We bought a 97 base model convertible Camaro and someone broke the motor ... Lights were blinking on the dash and that someone ignored the...
Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
