how hard is it to put a inline fuel pump in and by pass the intank one

You can't bypass the in tank pump unless you go with some custom fuel cell setup.

An inline pump is to help draw fuel from the tank. The best bet is to drop the tank and install a walbro 255 in tank pump.

What is your reason for needing more fuel at this point?

oh its in my trans am. the fuel pump is going out and i dont want to drop 1000 bucks in labor and another 700 on another fuel pump.

I just replaced my fuel pump on my 94 LT1 trans am...

It's very easy...

$125 for a walbro 255lph on summitracing (cheapest new pump i could find and it's good quality and high performance if you ever decide to mod)

Install took about 30 min using the "trap door method"

You can eliminate the in tank pump, but it will take some fabrication and welding, probably not something you want to attempt for the first time.
