  • thinking about a cam for the 3.4

well im getting ready to park the camaro for the winter and i have been thinking about upgrades, and winter work. i have been tossing around the idea of a cam and i have searched around on cams a little bit and found one i like from comp cams

    CompCams Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft

    1993-1995 3.4L V6

    Duration (Intake/Exhaust): 206°/206° @ .050"

    Valve Lift (w/1.5 Rocker): .425"/.425"

    Lobe Sep. Angle: 110°

this one is right in the middle of their selection so it shouldnt be too wild. now if i read right i remember reading about the 3.4 dont have timing or something along those lines, is this true? Im still kinda new to this motor so i dont know alot about it. what im really looking for is a cam that will pretty much drop in. if i have to pull the motor i will not do the cam. will the cam slide out from the front of the block like the old school v8s? i know installing it is somewhat technical but is this a project that a guy could do in his own garage with the basic tools? i have a buddy who is a mechanic so i can always get his help if i need it. i just want to get some facts on this before i order it. any help would be great. i did a little searching on here and most of the stuff i found was about the 3.8 so sorry if this stuff was answered but i couldnt find much

Go for the 260H, sometimes I wish I'd gone even bigger.

Yup, slides right in the front with motor in the car. Couple of things you might need that you'd have to borrow like a puller for the crank gear, assuming you're changing out the timing set.
