As much compression as possible. How much are you looking to spend?

2500 pounds....I hope mine gets there soon :)

Sounds like you've got a car ready to rock n roll. What kind of ETs have you seen with those 60s?

        I say stroke it

Then go with some flat tops with valve reliefs, a cam with .030" smaller base circle to clear the huge crank, 0.20 over pistons.

www.3800stroked.com sells a kit in the US, I am sure they could come up with some pistons to get the most out of your build. Still have yet to do mine up

Well, a shortblock like in my car is about as cheap as I would build one. Its a complete flat-top piston, stock rods with ARP bolts and polished beams, and the stock crank. I've got the NA record right now at a 12.48 and with some changes I've made recently, I believe it will run 11's in the same conditions.

8.0 compression ratio, stattama cam, 105# springs, arp everything, forged pistons, cometic mls head gasket and 30psi from a 35r turbo. low tens maybe even 9 with a good suspension and tire.

Re: short block for N/A 3.8 F body racecar

On the 12.48 pass I was running a 230/240 .578/.544(1.7RR) 112LSA(the cam is for sale $200). Shifting at 6500RPM's. The bore is 3.819". With that combination, 7.91 1/8th at Sealy, it ran 8.5's out here in west Texas 1/8th mile. I have it down to a 8.1's now here in West Texas in the summer but its got a bigger cam, and more compression. My best 60' out here is a 1.69, but 1.70-1.72 in bracket form consistently. It went a 1.65 on the 12.48.

mahle makes custom pistons if you want to increase the compression. plus mahle pistons are sick friggin good. big bore, small stroke engine. thats what i want to do, but thats more for boosted applications or nitrous.

mahle makes good pistons they have there price, want a affordable short block with good numbers. If a person was running boost or anything that is a good choice of pistons.

The cam has less than 1000 miles on it, probably around 300 passes. Its a Comp cam. It worked well with a 4000-4400 stall converter and with the 6500RPM shifts. Any more stall than that and it would have been too much. I have T&D shaft mount rockers on my car.

You can get custom pistons from anyone pretty much, but we use Diamond more than anyone. The ones in my car are CP pistons however. My next set will be Diamonds.

I wouldn't go over .030". Even .010" would probably be enough just to keep some cylinder wall thickness. It would probably be around $12-15 to ship this cam to you with insurance. You really need to have a gasket thats atleast .020 over the bore size you're running. They usually aren't perfect as far as how good the gasket matches the bore.
