so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
and wow, what a difference. before when i floored it in first the car would take off, but now my tires just kinda spin lol. It was worth every penny i spent They are amazing. Also installed comp #105 springs
im going to see if i can make a trip to the dyno sometime soon and see what numbers im making
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
Nice man. Definitely get some numbers, I'm kinda debating on upping my rockers when I do my cam. Probably won't, but numbers can change my mind very quick :D
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
after you take off/bend the engine lift brackets out of the way, it's just the 5 bolts holding the valve cover on, on the pass side. Then remove the coil packs on the drives side and thats it.
Just installing rockers mayb takes like an 1hour. installing springs is the hard part.
it took me and my buddy for ever to instll the springs because the spark plug hole on my pass side was pretty much blocked by my header, so we had a realy really hard time getting a fitting in there so we could compress the cylinder so we didnt drop a valve.
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
Hey Meatyshells what other mods do you have done to your car? If you still have a stock cam the 1.9 rockers take your valve lift to .490" lift in/ex and should increase your duration a couple to around 184 dur. in. & 194 dur. ex. at .050. I think 6-6200 rpms should be plenty for you. I dont think you'll be making hp after that.
General rule of thumb for oiling is to have 10 psi. of oil pressure for every 1000 rpms you run. Stock is 60psi. Intense has a kit to take it to 75psi or so and it's pretty easy to install.
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
eh man wanna do me a huge favour...and gimmie a walk through as to how you installed these (the best ya can) Im really considering it...I think Im ok on the rocker arms and I think the rods just connect to the arms so they're easy...but Im really unsure about these springs...
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
1. take off valve covers (if you need help with that let me know)
2. unbolt rocker arms, you will need new bolts to put them back on.
3. compress the cylinder you are going to be taking the springs off of. I used a fitting that screwed into the sparkplug hole with an air compressor machine.
4. use a spring compressor (smaller the better) i used a small one that kind resembled a corkscrew bottle opener.
5. compress spring, when the spring is compressed enough, take the magnet and pick up the valve keys, they are 2 tiny metal sleaves that go around the valve stem.
6. once the valve keys are off remove the spring.
7.put new spring along with retainer into compressor, compress.
8. put on new spring where old one sat.
9. here's the tricky part, you need to put the valve keys back in. I found it easiest to compress the spring as much as i could so that the valve stem came out above the spring more, i then put the valve keys on top of the valve stem and slightly pulled up on the spring while i loosened it. Be very carfull not to drop the valve keys, if you loose one you are screwed.
repeat 11 more times haha
hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions
and yeah you cant really screw up installing rocker arms haha

Sounds easy enough...except this is gunna sound stupid lol...where exactly are the springs? I was under the impression they were together with the rocker arms...your talking about spark plug whole and you gotta me kinda lost?
Re: so i installed me 1.9 full roller promag rocker arms today.
the spring is under the rocker arm so yeah you were right. The spring is what holds the valve up, when you remove the spring there is nothing holding the spring in place, so you have to compress the cylinder via the spark plug hole in order to keep the valve from dropping into the head. make sense?
Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
Just ordered some Toyo 315/35/17 tires for my 17x11 rims. Hopefully I can get them on the beginning of next year. Will post pics.
