I dont have any cutaways of these heads but have ported many sets of them over the years. The castings are very thin and there is not a whole lot you can do on the intake runners. The exhaust is the weak spot on these heads and there is a lot of room to work with. One major place you can run into trouble is in the exhaust port roof. DONT take much out of it or you will break into water!!! The first set I ported for these engines was a learning lesson. I was finishing up the last exhaust port, everything else was finished and I saw what appeared to be a little pin hole or casting flaw, so I began to polish into it a bit and realized the spot was growing. At this point I took a pocked screwdriver and pushed through the metal because it was so thin. I didnt remove that much either. I was rather upset at this point so I took the carbide and pushed as hard as I could into the exhaust port on all sides to see what I could work with. You can really go down into the floor, but that will hurt flow if you get the shape wrong and its very short to start with. The sides however also have plenty of meat to work with. This is what you will see most guys doing to the 3800 heads, widening the exhaust ports making them an oval shape. If you go too big it will make your bottom end kinda lazy but really helps out in upper rpm ranges.
