  • 3.4 Valve spring/camshaft question(s)

I have tried to search but did not find anything relevant.

I have bought a cam kit. Comp cams grind nr: CSV-6 260H-10

    212 degrees at .050 in/ex

Dont have the numbers in front of me right now, but should be

.440 lift in/ex whit factory rocker Ratio

Is it to much lift for the stock valve springs? Any coil bind?

Is the stock ones to soft? Valve float?

And can i run the stock rockers?

And if i change the springs, anybody know know if the installed height would be fine if i just swap them?

I actually have everything, except rocker arms, so its not really a big problem IF i need to change them. So feel free to think im asking stupid questions... haha

Outside diameter on new springs are 1.230 inch, same as stock?
Do they fit stock heads and retainers and such?

I could buy new rockers at the same time and change those att the same time though.. But then i need to wait for them to come... (live in Norway..)

Im actually doing this because my timing chain has started to rattle, so why not upgrade everything i thought

im not sure about everything, but it's probably best to get some better springs reguardless. and then you can get some stock ratio light weight roller tip rockers :)

Ahem.. im sort of embarassed right now...

Because I got new retainers and everything, so i guess there really is no problems....

But I hope I can use the stock rockers and maybe swap for some other later or just order new right away and wait... Dilemma! :) A good dilemma though.

there shouldnt be a problem with the stock rockers, they are actually very good rockers.
but rockers are very easy to change. just make sure you get new rocker arm bolts.

3.4's have rocker studs. They don't need to be changed with the rockers.

I have heard that the locking nuts need to be changed if they have been removed more than once (ie you can use them twice). Than again, I have also heard that LIM bolts should be replaced each time, but many people have had success re-using them.

Whan replacing a cam, be sure to replace the lifters, they are cheap and should always stay with the cam they were broke in on (and on the same lobe).

3.4 springs are actually pretty stiff, just replace them with stock if there's a lot of miles on them.
