  • purchasing a 3.8

Ok, so I called the tacreations about a shipping quote for his 3.8's. He said that the website has not been updated in a while, so the 30k motors on there don't really exist...:( He also said you will more than likely not find a 3.8 liter with that kind of low millage. Mine currently has 13X on her. She runs fine but I'd really like to have the option of a diff motor (and most likely turbo'd by the transplant). So would trying to find a 3.8 from a junkyard with like 60k or less be impossible/a wise move? Or then what kind of miles should I lower my standards to accept? Or if y'all have any other ideas on where to search just yell at me :wavey: B/c I really don't wanna buy one from GM, that'd just suck and i wouldn't do it. Too much $$$$

fbody 3800's haven't been produced in 5 yrs, and most you'll find are even older (meaning your not gonna find any low mileage engines, escpecially in junkyards)

I would just rebuild yours or find another middle-mileage 3.8 and rebuild it

Yea I know, sub 50k is what I was lookin for. Not one like mine with a lot of miles on it.

rdrr96, what're the specs on em? shoot me an email. I won't respond till sunday night though as I'm gonna be outta town (Hiking some of the Appalachian Trail :)).

The fwd longblock will be a direct swap. I believe in 04 the switch from series 2 to series 3 and are now designated as an L26 instead of L36, but everything bolts up just fine and those are much easier to get ahold of. You will need your intake and all other bolt on accessories from your existing engine.

one had a spun bearing. the other appears to have had water in the crankcase. both are stock and both of them are probably going to be getting done in the next year.

my mission is to get atleast one of them up and running. possibly the turbo one. not sure yet though.
