I've got a set of heads i've P&P'd and now I'm doing a valve job on, just finished drilling for new guides. Anyway, I figure since everything is out and easy to work on, I might as well do what I can. I'm thinking of machining the deck a bit to bump my compression ratio a tad, and getting some rocker arms. My question is, what rocker arms would you recommend?..best bang for the buck if you will..and where can I find them? I've checked a few sites that i know of for V6 performance, none of which had any, so help me out here.. Also, would new rocker arms require new springs? I don't know springs to wear out in normal wear and tear, but the heads/valvetrain has 46K on it if that matters.
TIA
check out comp cams website they have lots of stuff.
as for rockers it all depends on what you want to do. The stock ones are actually really good.
If you plan on doing a cam i would go with the promag or aluminum rockers with the roller tip in stock ratio.
if no cam get some higher ratio ones. As for springs, its up to you, if you are putting all that work into it why not get new springs while your at it. If you are getting new rockers, i would reccomend getting new springs/retainers as well. either the ls6 springs, or the 105# springs are very good.
I dont like the idea to plain decks or heads to get compression. Maybe to get a .1-.5 at most. If your not getting a cam I think you should be fine with your stock springs. If your going to get different rockers as in a higher ratio, it might be a wise choice to get some stiffer springs. Also look into pushrods depending on the rocker you get.

Yeah, I was only going to plain the deck a bit, like you said, .5 at most. I don't plan on camming the car, so I guess I'll stick with the stock springs. What ratio would you recommend I go with? I saw a pack of roller rockers/pushrods on intense for 399.99. Are there any brands in particular I should stay away from?

Im thinking of goin with 1.9...I think you will see the most gains from that IMO...but to go qith 1.9 you will need to get better springs...instense racing says that on there site as well
Alright, so if I go with the 1.90:1 rocker arms, and get some LS6 springs, am I going to need pushrods or not? So far only one has mentioned them, it doesn't seem like you others think I need them.
I see an at least $100 difference between roller rockers and normal rockers. Is there really much to be gained between the two? I realize the friction could slow things down, but when it's all covered in oil, is it really going to be much different?

yes in a high HP engine but in NA V6 i dont think so.
thats what Im looking at getting...its everything you need...I think somewhere on the site they even have a package with a pcm included already tuned for the rockers and crap your getting
