  • ValveTrain Problems! Help!!

    With the valve locks off:

    the seats, retainers, and springs stick BAD.

    The spring sticks to the retainer and valve seat BAD.

    It takes ALOT of force to get the spring off!!!!! I mean, I have to literally beat it with a hammer to get the spring off!

    The inside spring is Longer (double valve springs), is this okay? (not worried too much)


    A few springs pulled the seat and seal with it.

    When we try to hammer the seals back on, it just disintigrates. Using a 9mm - 13mm. I know this is not good practice but it lacks like .177mm (a BB's size from being all the way down on it.)

    For starters you should be using new Valve seals every time you take the heads apart. The inner spring should not rub the valve seal. The seal will have to come off for the spring seat to be removed.

    You must mean the spring seat, the valve seat is on the other side of the head from the spring.

    I would suggest taking your heads to a machine shop and letting them look at them or at least post pics of this.
